We cross the Mackinac Bridge and turn east headed into Hessel/Cedarville. Hessel is home to the Culinary School and Cedarville boasts the Great Lakes Boat Building School.
Our intent was to enjoy a culinary delight by eating dinner at the culinary school. However, to our disappointment, the school stops serving dinner after Labor Day. We also intended to visit the boat school. Two years ago, we came here for a week and we built our own tandem kayak. We wanted to show the school to Dan and Rhonda, but they only give tours on Friday and we would be gone by then. These two missed opportunities give us an education in making sure we check all details ahead of time concerning the places we want to visit as we move along in our journey.
So, we spend the day in the woods hiking and walking the Narnia Trail. We search the trails and find the Narnia bench but we cannot find the Narnia lamppost hidden in the Bush Bay forest and rocks. This is the second time we have failed to find that lamppost and we return to camp and learn that our neighbors on the campsite beside us have found the post and we turned back short of about 200 feet from where they found it. Ugh!
Another trip, another time…we will find the elusive post! Now it is on the bucket list!
