Today we end our day trips in the Munising area with a stop at the famous Pictured Rock National Lakeshore.

We board the boat that will take us up the shore of Lake Superior. We are the first boat in three days that has made it all the way on the tour to the rocks. Because of high winds, the others have had to turn back early. We picked the right day! Also wise to go by boat and not by kayak. It is quite an effort to reach the rock formations by kayak and some say the views are better by boat. A matter of preference of course. The rocks show off their splendid colors in the afternoon sun. The captain points out the famed silhouettes like “The Indian,” Battleship Row,” and “Castle Rock” to name a few.

On the way back to port, we pass the Grand Island with an opportunity to photograph the rustic lighthouse. A lady of the lake from days gone by. After leaving the boat we finish our visit with a great place for pizza and a chocolate chip dessert pizza. The end of a splendid day on the water.
